Rfag n’timgharine >Expedition

Rfag n’timgharine (ⴰⴼⴰⴳ ⵏ’ⵜⵉⵎⵖⴰⵔⵉⵏ )se generó en Beni Boufrah en las montañas del Rif de Marruecos con el apoyo del espacio cultural L’apartment 22 en Rabat gracias a la invitación de los curadores Natalia Valencia Arango y Abdellah Karroum, en dónde Maria Camila estuvo trabajando con unas ceramistas tradicionales Amazigh. Durante 15 días, la artista vivió, comió y se comunicó con las mujeres a través del barro. Fueron ellas quienes le enseñaron las propiedades particulares de este material, distinto al barro con el que había trabajado anteriormente. Aunque es resistente, este barro es poco elástico, lo que requirió numerosas horas de trabajo para moldearlo y darle forma.  Durante ese proceso se generó la instalación Rfag n’timgharine una constelación de piezas que refleja la red que existe entre estas mujeres, quienes se han acompañado a lo largo de sus vidas, compartiendo conocimientos de generación en generación.

“Rfag n’timgharine (ⴰⴼⴰⴳ ⵏ’ⵜⵉⵎⵖⴰⵔⵉⵏ)” was generated in Beni Boufrah, in the Rif Mountains of Morocco, with the support of the cultural space L’apartment 22 in Rabat, thanks to the invitation of curators Natalia Valencia Arango and Abdellah Karroum. María Camila worked with traditional Amazigh ceramists during this time. For 15 days, the artist lived, ate, and communicated with the women through clay. They taught her the unique properties of this material, different from the clay she had worked with before. Although it is resilient, this clay is not very elastic, requiring numerous hours of work to mold and shape. Throughout this process, the installation Rfag n’timgharine was created, a constellation of pieces reflecting the network that exists among these women, who have supported each other throughout their lives, sharing knowledge from generation to generation.
